Some of you may have seen this video where homeless women are asked about having their period on the street. And if you were like me, it hit a cord, because admittedly, I hadn't considered this before. And as a women that made me pretty ashamed.  Remember being in school and having your period start? It was embarrassing, it was uncomfortable and it was an emergency! So consider having to deal with that monthly, only you can't run to your locker or to the school nurse. Humiliating, demoralizing, panic-inducing are a few words that come to my mind.  Stay with me, I'll...

Local Biz Love - Uncorked Tours

Posted by Pamela Wheaton on

Uncorked Tours is such a little gem in our city! It has something to offer tourists, certainly, but also such a fun way for locals to get familiarized with their beautiful province - by touring wineries! I'm in!!  Gil Nadeau has the hustle and the sparkling personality to make this business thrive. I was right! 1. Tell me a little about...

Alisha Anderson is a powerhouse. No question. A Powerhouse with pink hair, and it doesn't get any more awesome then that! I don't know anyone who has the kind of hustle she has. Starting up your own business is a challenge - launching your own make up company (in the Maritimes no less!) makes that seems like a breeze, but she owns her brand, she has put love, sweat, and her booty into it and has grown Dioné into a thriving. wonderful business!  We started our businesses around the same time, but I definitely look to her for motivation and...

#LocalBizLove Feature #2 - The Brag Bag

Posted by Pamela Wheaton on

I"m a little late getting this month's post out. I blame the weather, because, well I can!  This month I have the pleasure of introducing you to the beauty, the brains and culinary wizardry behind The Brag Bag, Laura Key. I had the fortune to meet Laura in an Uptown Saint John business group and I knew right away that she was one of those good natured, clever, upbeat people that I'd be lucky to have in my corner.  And then I tasted her food, and I knew that all her hard work, passion and drive would not go to waste!...
